Movie weekend
This has been a very big movie weekend for us. There were several movies that came out this weekend which we were wanting to see. So, on Friday night we began our weekend of movies. The first movie we saw was Julie and Julia.

This was a really fun movie, especially if you do like food. Meryl Streep did an awesome job as Julia Childs and I really learned a lot about Julia Child's past in the Julia portion of the movie. I just can't stress at how impressed I was at Meryl's acting ability here. I definitely expect her to be nominated for an Oscar for this performance. The Julie storyline was fun too. While not as enjoyable as the Julia portion of the story, I did enjoy watching Julie struggle with the modern day concerns that plague a lot of us now. Overall, we really enjoyed the movie.
After watching Julie and Julia we went to another movie, A Perfect Getaway. This movie is about two newlyweds who go to Hawaii for their honeymoon. While there, another newlywed couple is murdered. The murders are a man and woman. Once you learn this, you, along with the newlyweds become suspicious of all of the new couples that they meet. As a viewer you go back and forth throughout the movie as to who the killers are. Then a twist is introduced that totally changes your viewpoint on the movie and from that point on the action really picks up. Overall, we both really enjoyed the movie and thought that it was much better than what we expected.

The third movie we saw was G.I. Joe. We watched this one with some friends of ours on Saturday night. As a kid, I always liked the G.I. Joe toys and enjoyed playing with them so I was familiar with the characters. Going into the movie, I was concerned about how they were going to translate these cartoon characters to a live action movie. Well, I have to say they did an awesome job of that. I felt that the characters were introduced in a way that those of us familiar with them would recognize them, but at the same time, someone who never knew them could also identify with them. The movie was also a great "guys" movie. Action packed from the very beginning to the very end of the movie. A must see.
