As you can tell, this is a parody of DaVinci's "Last Supper" painting. Now, the CWA (Concerned Women for America) is up in arms about this and is making a big stink about it. They are petitioning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-SF), California Senators Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein, and Governor Arnold Schwarzengger to "publicly condemn this unprovoked attack against Christ and His followers. We further challenge the media to cover this affront to Christianity with the same vigor as recent stories about cartoon depictions of Mohammed and other items offensive to the Muslim community".
Personally, they are taking this a little bit too far. In all reality, the only person who has a right to be offended by this parody is DaVinci himself since he is the creator of the original painting. Furthermore, there have been numerous parodies of "The Last Supper" done such as the following: Sesame Street Last Supper
Fast Food Last Supper
Knitters Club Last Supper
Simpson's Last Supper
Red Sox Last Supper
Soprano's Last Supper
Star Wars Last Supper
As you can see, these are all parodies of the "Last Supper" but I don't remember hearing any uproars from the CWA or any other organizations at the time that these were printed. Again, this is another example of the discrimination that the Gay and Lesbian society has to endure. It appears that it's okay if other groups make a parody of the "Last Supper" for fun, but when a Gay and Lesbian group does it, man all hellfire has to rain down. My hope is that the CWA's petition to the California State Representatives falls on deaf ears and that the festival is abe to go on without a hitch. We are people and American's too and have the right to publish items and assemble just like everyone else does.
